Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh – October 2025:
The holy city of Ayodhya is gearing up for one of the most magnificent celebrations in its history — Ayodhya Deepotsav 2025. This year, the festival promises to surpass all previous records, with an ambitious plan to light 26 lakh (2.6 million) diyas along the serene ghats of the Saryu River, aiming to secure a place in the Guinness World Records once again.

Organized by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department in collaboration with local authorities and devotees, the grand event will coincide with Diwali, celebrating Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile and his victory over evil. The city will shimmer under the glow of millions of earthen lamps, symbolizing hope, divinity, and cultural unity.

A Cultural and Spiritual Spectacle

The 2025 edition will feature elaborate Ram Leela performances, laser shows, devotional music concerts, and aerial drone light displays, depicting episodes from the Ramayana. Over 20,000 volunteers, including students and local residents, will participate in arranging the diyas, ensuring each one contributes to the luminous spectacle.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to inaugurate the event, along with several dignitaries, artists, and spiritual leaders. The government has also emphasized eco-friendly measures — including the use of clay diyas and organic oil, sustainable decorations, and waste management systems to maintain cleanliness along the ghats.

Boost to Tourism and Local Economy

The Ayodhya Deepotsav has become a global attraction in recent years, drawing thousands of domestic and international visitors. Hotels, homestays, and tour agencies are reporting high bookings, giving a major boost to the hospitality and tourism sectors.
