Title: PM Modi Launches ₹35,440 Crore Farm Schemes to Boost Agriculture and Pulse Production

In a major push toward agricultural transformation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched two ambitious central schemes worth a combined ₹35,440 crore. The initiatives aim to uplift 100 underperforming agricultural districts and enhance pulse production across the country, reinforcing India’s commitment to achieving self-reliance in food security.

Speaking at the event, PM Modi emphasized that the schemes will empower farmers with modern technology, improved irrigation systems, and better access to quality seeds. He added that the government’s long-term goal is to increase productivity, ensure fair prices, and reduce India’s dependence on imported pulses.

The first scheme focuses on the comprehensive development of low-performing agricultural districts, introducing a district-wise approach to identify challenges and deploy targeted interventions. These include infrastructure development, soil health management, and training programs for farmers to adopt sustainable and climate-resilient practices.

The second initiative, centered on pulse production enhancement, aims to bridge the supply-demand gap in essential pulses such as tur, urad, and masoor. The plan will provide incentives for farmers cultivating pulses, improve procurement systems, and expand research on high-yield and drought-resistant varieties.

Experts believe these reforms could significantly strengthen India’s agricultural backbone. The schemes are expected to increase rural employment, stabilize food prices, and promote inclusive economic growth by supporting small and marginal farmers.

With this launch, the government continues its mission under the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047”, aiming to build a robust, sustainable, and globally competitive agricultural sector.
